Special Olympics Missouri hosts successful Gold Medal Gala in St. Louis
ST. LOUIS – Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) was so excited to bring back its Gold Medal Gala to St. Louis on Saturday, Nov. 12 at CITYPARK, the Home of St. Louis CITY SC.
Former MLS MVP and current ESPN analyst Taylor Twellman headlined the fundraising event. KSDK’s Art Holliday emceed the program. Longtime SOMO athlete Allen Tobin also spoke at the event. You can learn more about his story in this in-depth video.
The highlight of the fundraiser came toward the end of the program. Several SOMO athletes from the St. Louis Metro Area had the opportunity to ask former MLS MVP and current ESPN broadcaster Taylor Twellman questions in front of a live audience at the Gold Medal Gala on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022 at CITYPARK in St. Louis!
This year’s event raised thousands of dollars for SOMO, and we already cannot wait until next year!

Special Olympics Missouri
Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) is a year-round program of sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Thousands of athletes participate in 16 Olympic-type sports throughout the state. SOMO provides people with intellectual disabilities continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, and experience joy as they participate in the sharing of gifts and friendship with their fellow athletes, their family and friends, and communities across Missouri.
