SOMO to host first-ever Health and Fitness Fair

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.

Special Olympics Missouri is proud to host its first-ever Health and Fitness Fair on Saturday, April 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Training for Life Campus.

The event is FREE AND OPEN to all members of the community. We’ll have health screenings, prizes, refreshments and more! Come learn about your health in a fun and exciting way!

We’ll have more than 30 booths set up inside from the following vendors:

While you’re attending the event, you can also check out SOMO’s Central Area Volleyball Tournament. The competition gets going in the arena at 10 a.m.

WHO: This is a family-friendly event open to the community, students and Special Olympics athletes. Come learn about your own health while you also learn what Special Olympics offers to its athletes.

WHAT: Our first ever health fair will be held this year, and we hope you can join us! This event combines recreation, health and wellness in a single package. FREE screenings and health information are just some of the perks you’ll receive when you take advantage of this unique opportunity. We’ll have more than a dozen raffles with some amazing prizes. Plus – we’ll have games for all ages. Refreshments will be provided.

WHY: We hope this event will serve to educate the community and our athletes about nutrition, mental health and physical fitness. Special Olympics provides Healthy Athletes®, a program that focuses on the overall health of people with intellectual impairments through a variety of health examinations. This will include Fitfeet, Health Promotion, Medfest, Funfitness, Healthy Hearing, Special Smiles, Opening Eyes and Strong Minds. For additional information, please visit our website at
