Here’s a look back at all of the amazing Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) events that took place this week!
- St. Joseph (Area) – Last week on Friday, Sept. 26th was Homecoming at East Buchanan High School. Senior and Basketball Athlete on Team Missouri Maggie Kelsey was on her own float in the Homecoming parade promoting USA Games. Also, several athletes and parents hosted a Boot Block on Sept. 20th and raised over $3,000!

- Springfield (Program) – We’ve had our State Outdoor Games Welcoming Committee here each week to help with Thank You Cards, Banners, and Posters. We had a Unified Bocce Event out at Ozark High School a couple of weeks ago. And we’ve had several meetings with new schools about coming on board with SOMO and UCS, so we’re hoping to see a lot of growth again this year!
- St. Louis (Program) – In the St. Louis Metro Area, we had a successful Area Bocce Tournament including athletes from the St. Louis and Southeast Areas at Hillsboro High School on September 20. And we are currently preparing for a new fundraiser called the Guardian Games this Saturday, October 4.
- Central (Area) – On Friday, The Eldon Mustangs hosted a local track and field teams for a track meet! Teams from Sedalia, Stover, Blair Oaks, and Eldon competed in various events throughout the day. It was an awesome event and we can’t wait to watch this event grow! On Saturday, we represented USA Games in the MU Homecoming Parade. Athletes, Coaches, Volunteers and Staff all came together to pass out candy and wave to the crowd. We had the best time!

- KC Metro (Program) – In the Kansas City Metro Area, we have had Unified Flag Football at UMKC. Community Impact Club hosted Bingo at Hilltop Nursing Home. SKU Unified Soccer Team had a Chiefs watch party to wrap up their season.
