SOMO Sum Ups: September 2-8
Here’s a look back at all of the amazing Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) events that took place this week!
2nd Annual Driving Fore Inclusion Golf Tournament: Thursday September 4
The 2nd Annual Driving Fore Inclusion Golf Tournament took place on Thursday, September 4, at Redfield Golf Course in Eugene, MO. Teams enjoyed a day of fun, food, and friendly competition, all while supporting Special Olympics Missouri athletes. Lunch and dinner were provided, along with shirts, prizes, drinks, and mulligans. Thank you to everyone who came out to support this great cause!





11th Annual Superhero Bocce Tournament: Saturday, September 6
The 11th Annual Superhero Bocce Unified event was held on Saturday, September 6, at the Training for Life Campus in Jefferson City. Community teams joined Special Olympics Missouri athletes on the field for a day full of fun competition. Participants received superhero T-shirts, and guests enjoyed food, drinks, a silent auction, and a raffle. The day began with registration and an opening ceremony before tournament play kicked off. Great job to all the athletes and teams who made this another successful year!
Plane Pull & Block Party: Saturday, September 6
SOMO hosted its very first Plane Pull fundraiser alongside the 3rd annual Block Party on Saturday, September 6, at the Kansas City-Lee’s Summit Regional Airport. The event was co-hosted by the Kansas City Police Department, Lee’s Summit Police Department, and MSHP Troop A. Guests enjoyed live entertainment, vendors, food trucks, a kid zone, and more throughout the day. It was truly an amazing day. Thank you to everyone who came out to support!






Southwest Area Tennis Clinic: Saturday, September 6
The Southwest Area Tennis Clinic was held on Saturday, September 6, at the Cooper Indoor Tennis Complex. Beginner and intermediate athletes trained from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., while the advanced group practiced from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Great work by all the athletes who participated!
St. Louis Metro Area Flag Football Tournament: Sunday, September 7
SOMO hosted teams from the St. Louis Metro Area, the Southeast Area, and Mascoutah, IL for the Area Flag Football Tournament on Sunday, September 7, at Holt High School in Wentzville. A big thank-you goes to the Lindenwood University women’s lacrosse team and coaches for volunteering, and the Liberty High School football players for refereeing. During the event, SOMO also received an incredible $11,500 check from Fore Love of the Game, presented by football Event Managers Phil McHenry and Angie Clark, to support future STLM events and USA Games athletes. It was a beautiful day of football and community support!
