Strive for Strength Workout Program
The Strive for Strength workout program continued at the Training for Life Campus this week. Athletes had the opportunity to focus on their health while having fun! Check out these updates on our social media from this week’s program!
Chiefs All Abilities Fantasy Camp: Tuesday, September 17
On Tuesday, September 17, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, ten SOMO athletes had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Chiefs All Abilities Fantasy Camp at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. The camp, facilitated by current Chiefs players, included surprise visits from KC Wolf and the Chiefs Cheerleaders. Each athlete was gifted a customized jersey, making the experience even more memorable. Thank you to everyone who came out and participated in this special evening!
KC Unified Flag Football Intramural with UMKC: Tuesday, September 17
Tuesday evening, September 17, marked the third week of the KC Unified Flag Football Intramural League at UMKC’s Swinney Recreation Center. From 5:45 to 7:00 pm, athletes competed in another exciting week of Unified play. Great job to all the athletes for their teamwork and effort on the field!
KC Metro 3v3 Basketball League: Thursday, September 19
On Thursday, September 19, SOMO athletes hit the court for another week of the KC Metro 3v3 Basketball League at the Kansas City Police Department South Patrol Station Gym. From 6:00 to 8:00 pm, teams practiced and competed, showcasing their skills in both Regulation and Unified divisions. Well done to everyone who participated—your hard work is paying off!
2024 KCMO Fall YAP: Friday, September 20
Friday, September 20, marked the third session of the 2024 KCMO Fall Young Athletes Program. From 5:30 to 6:15 pm, children ages 2-7 participated in activities that introduced basic sports skills like running, kicking, and throwing. It was wonderful to see the young athletes, along with their siblings and families, enjoy the joy of sports together.
KC Renaissance Festival: Saturday, September 21
On Saturday, September 21, SOMO volunteers joined the KC Renaissance Festival, working food booths and embracing the medieval spirit. The day was filled with lots of fun as our team served festival-goers while donning Renaissance costumes. A big thank you to everyone who volunteered—you helped make the event a success!
KC/ North Area Basketball & Bowling Coaches Training: Saturday, September 21
Saturday, September 21, saw coaches come together for the KC/North Area Basketball and Bowling Coaches Training at Platte City Middle School. The day was split into basketball training from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by lunch, and bowling training from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Thank you to all the coaches who attended—we are excited for another great season!
