Here’s a look back at all of the amazing Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) events from September 10-16, 2024!

KC Unified Flag Football Intramural with UMKC: September 10

Another great week for the Unified Flag Football Intramural League with UMKC! This program will continue to run weekly until October 1, at the UMKC Swinney Recreation Center. This five-week event brings together athletes of all abilities for friendly competition. A special thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event a success!

KC Metro 3v3 Basketball League: September 12

Thank you to everyone who joined us Thursday night for the 3v3 basketball league in KC. This League is intended to give KC 3v3 Basketball Teams (both Regulation and Unified) additional opportunities to practice and compete. There is no limit to the numbers of 3v3 teams per Agency, and no cost associated to participate. The more the merrier!  League will take place on Thursday Nights in September (9/12, 9/19, 9/26) from 6:00-8:00pm at the Kansas City Police Department South Patrol Station Gym.

2024 KCMO Fall YAP: September 13

Our second session of the KCMO Fall Young Athletes Program was a great success! Kids ages 2-7 had a blast learning new sports skills while families and community members shared in the joy of watching their progress. A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped make it such a memorable day. We look forward to seeing everyone at the next session!

Night of Champions Gala: September 13

The inaugural Night of Champions Gala was a wonderful evening filled with celebration, inspiration, and generosity. We enjoyed dinner with SOMO athletes, heard inspiring stories, and danced the night away with live music by Wings of Swing. A huge thank you to our sponsors, auction donors, and everyone who attended for making it a night to remember. Your support continues to make a difference for SOMO athletes in Southwest Missouri

Dare to Dream Charity Golf Tournament – Celebrating 20 years!: September 14

The 20th annual Dare to Dream Charity Golf Tournament was a fantastic success! Golfers came together to raise funds to support athletes in the KC Sports Experience, helping them participate in a wide range of sports. We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the participants, sponsors, and the KCPD Police Athletic League for hosting such an incredible event. Here’s to 20 years of making dreams come true for SOMO athletes!

North Area Bocce: September 14

The North Area Bocce Tournament took place from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm on the 14th. We witnessed some amazing games and shared plenty of fun moments with the athletes, volunteers, and families who made it all possible. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported this event!

St. Louis Metro Area Bocce Tournament: September 14

The St. Louis Metro Area Bocce Tournament took place at Hillsboro High School and gave the opportunity to showcase their skills and passion for bocce. We appreciate everyone who participated and helped create a fantastic event. Special thanks to our volunteers for making the day run smoothly!
