SOMO Sum Ups (Sept. 29th – Oct. 5th)

Celebrating another week full of amazing Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) moments! Check it out below!
St. Louis Metro Area – The 2025 Guardian Games brought together eight teams from across the St. Louis area for a day of friendly competition, teamwork, and inclusion—all in support of Special Olympics Missouri. Law enforcement officers, athletes, and community members competed side by side in a series of fun, Olympic-style events, showcasing the strength of our shared mission. Together, the teams raised more than $21,000 to support SOMO athletes across the state.

North Area – North Area is in the middle of Drive It Home Raffle Sales, we had teams selling at several locations over the last week. If anyone wants more tickets, contact our office. If you want to purchase tickets, please visit our website at www.somo.org
Be Fit is still being held on Thursday nights and we are still in need of a few volunteers. If you have missed a week, you can certainly return to the program. We have a few more weeks left.
Central Area – On Wednesday Oct. 1, Odessa hosted an awesome track meet for local athletes! It started with a mascot race, which fired up all our athletes and fans. Everyone had an awesome day!
Kansa City Metro Area – What an incredible day of Unified Flag Football! We’re so thankful for our ongoing partnership with UMKC and for everyone who came out to make the KC Metro Area Unified Flag Football event on October 1 a huge success. The energy, teamwork, and sportsmanship were absolutely inspiring!
Southwest Area – What a great weekend at the 18th Truck Convoy for Special Olympics Missouri in Joplin! A huge thank you to 4 State Trucks for hosting our convoy again. Their crew makes this event so special. 245 trucks entered the convoy, and it was an amazing feeling watching every last one of them convoy through town, knowing they all took their time and resources to support our athletes. We are so thankful for every one of them!

On October 3, 17 athletes kicked off 10 weeks of fitness at the Lebanon Family YMCA!
Southeast Area – What a fantastic day in Cape Girardeau for the 8th Annual Scott Wright Memorial Cornhole Tournament! It was incredible to see so many of our athletes out supporting the community and showing their spirit on October 4th. The energy, camaraderie, and fun made it a day to remember!
