Here’s a look back at all of the amazing Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) events from October 29- November 4, 2024!

KC Unified Pickleball Intramural with UMKC: Tuesday, October 29

Our 4-week Unified Pickleball Intramural League with UMKC continued on Tuesday, October 29, at the Swinney Recreation Center. Athletes and students teamed up for another fun and competitive evening, building friendships and promoting inclusion through the game of pickleball.

Pickleball & Cornhole: Wednesdays, October 30

On October 30, Houston Schools hosted a fall day filled with Pickleball and Cornhole! Local schools joined us for a day of activities, learning about SOMO programs and discovering ways to start their own teams. Attendees enjoyed lunch, games, and plenty of SOMO spirit!

2024 Polar Plunge Joplin: Saturday, November 2

On November 2, brave souls took the “plunge” in Joplin to support Special Olympics Missouri athletes. Participants donned creative costumes and dashed into the frigid waters, creating lasting memories and raising funds for SOMO athletes.

KC Metro Area Bowling: Saturday, November 2

Bowling enthusiasts of all ages joined us on November 2 for KC Metro Area Bowling, held at two locations. School-aged athletes competed at Premier Bowling in Raytown, while adult athletes showed their skills at Lunar Bowl in Blue Springs. The event was filled with camaraderie and excitement for all involved!

Strikers for SOMO Bowling Tournament: Saturday, November 2

November 2 marked the Third Annual Strikers for SOMO Bowling Tournament, a Unified event pairing SOMO athletes with community members. This tournament highlighted the incredible abilities of our athletes and promoted inclusion and unity through the sport of bowling.

North Area Bowling (Chillicothe): Saturday, November 2

The North Area Bowling event took place on November 2 at The Fast Lane in Chillicothe, where athletes came together for a day of friendly competition and community. This annual event showcases the talents of our athletes and the unity of our supporters.

State Outdoor Games Update
