It’s been another fantastic week for Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO)! Here’s a look at some of the highlights.

North – North Area hosted our first Music Bingo on Friday, Oct 24th. It was a fun night; great prizes were given out.   Look for Chili Bingo coming up on November 9th

Kansas City Metro Area: Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) received a generous $15,000 donation from the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, founded by Chiefs quarterback Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, during the 15 and the Mahomies Gala. The event celebrated organizations making a difference in the community, with SOMO recognized for its work empowering athletes with intellectual disabilities. Athletes, families, and supporters also enjoyed a lively Fowling Night at Fowling Warehouse KC, where they bonded over the unique football-bowling hybrid sport while raising awareness for SOMO’s mission. Local Kansas City clubs partnered with Pizza Ranch for a community fundraiser, where supporters enjoyed dinner while contributing directly to programs benefiting SOMO athletes. Additionally, SOMO youth leaders participated in the Unified Champion Schools (UCS) Youth Leadership Summit in Kansas City, focusing on inclusion, leadership development, and empowering young changemakers. In Riverside, the Cover the Cruiser event invited the public to fill a police cruiser with donations to support SOMO programs—an effort made even more special by the participation of former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith.

St. Louis Metro Area – Students and Unified Partners from the Hillsboro and Northwest School District competed in a local bowling tournament on Friday; it was a great day of Unified Competition!  The St. Louis Metro Area hosted a full house for St. Louis Public Schools local bowling on Monday and Thursday this week! Congratulations to all the skilled athletes on their games!
