What an incredible week it’s been for Special Olympics Missouri! From exciting events to inspiring celebrations, our athletes, partners, and supporters came together to showcase the true spirit of inclusion, teamwork, and joy. Let’s take a look back at some of the highlights that made this week so memorable—and see what’s coming up next!
KC Metro Area – It was an exciting week of celebration and community spirit across the KC Metro as Special Olympics Missouri athletes, partners, and supporters came together for a series of memorable events. The week began on Tuesday, November 4, with a lively Unified Pickleball event at UMKC, where athletes and students bonded through teamwork and fun. On Friday, November 7, the 2nd Annual Show Me MO Fashion Show, presented by Olshan Foundation Solutions, dazzled 170 attendees as athletes confidently walked the runway, supported by 15 local boutiques and highlighted by a generous $15,959 donation. The celebrations concluded Sunday, November 9, at the Missouri Men’s Basketball game, where the 2024–2025 SOMO Athletes of the Year were honored during halftime with a spirited scrimmage coached by Mizzou’s Kellie Harper and Tony Temple. The energy continues with the upcoming Tip a Cop fundraiser on Saturday, November 15, at Corner Cafe locations, offering the community a chance to enjoy breakfast while supporting SOMO athletes and programs.

We also had a Craft Show on Saturday to benefit the USA games athletes, and then we had our Annual Chili Bingo on Sunday afternoon, it was a packed weekend and a lot of fun for all. Thanks to all the volunteers that made our events happen successful.

St. Louis Metro Area – The St. Louis Metro Area had 560 bowlers for this weekend’s Area Bowling Tournament, and everyone left the bowling alley with an award in their hand and smiles from ear-to-ear! Thank you for the outstanding support from our coaches, athlete families, lane volunteers and local law enforcement!
