We are back with another look at what has been going on with Special Olympics Missouri in the last week!

Southeast Area – The MO Magic Volleyball Team was recently recognized at the SEMO vs Mizzou Volleyball Game on October 22.  (See photo below).  Each player was announced, and they were on the court with the teams for the National Anthem. Also pictured below is MO Magic seated with SEMO University President Dr. Brad Hodson and his wife Sue.

The Train 4 Life program continues with much success.  These athletes are working very hard and having fun while working on their conditioning and learning about health and nutrition.

This volleyball team is working so hard each week during volleyball practice.  They are keeping a very rugged schedule between all their appearances and practices.  They are doing all they can, developing skills and raising money.

North Area – North Area helped the KC Metro area by volunteering and working at the Monday night Chiefs game. Thanks to all our volunteers. Thursday was our Be Fit program, we are winding down only 2 weeks left to finish up their goals.

KC Metro Area – SOMO athletes across the KC Metro area enjoyed a series of fun and engaging events. The week kicked off on October 27 with the Walking Club, promoting fitness and friendship, followed by the Craft Club, where athletes expressed their creativity through art. On October 30, Park University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams hosted an energetic clinic, complete with free T-shirts and complimentary entry to the Remy Memorial Basketball Invitational. The excitement continued on November 1 with Area Bowling, where athletes showcased their skills, sportsmanship, and team spirit. Looking ahead, the 2nd Annual Show Me MO Fashion Show on November 7, presented by Olshan Foundation Solutions, will spotlight SOMO athletes’ confidence, individuality, and community pride.

Central Area – Last week, we hosted our first Murder Mystery Fundraiser! We had a great time solving the murder and raising money for the Central Area! Attendees came in costume and got to solve our Murder in Manhattan. We are excited to continue this event in the future!

Southwest Area – Southwest Area USA MO Magic Athlete Jennie Crabbe and Unified Partner Charity O’Bannon raised money to help fund their trip to Minnesota next Summer on Oct. 27th by selling keychains and bracelets at Genisis Health Clubs.

St. Louis Metro Area – St. Louis Metro was pleased to host the second of four local bowling events in Jefferson county – kudos to all the new and returning schools and agencies that are so involved in this area! A big thank you to Desoto High School STUCO for volunteering, and to law enforcement representatives from Festus PD, Creve Coeur PD and Missouri State Highway Patrol for helping at awards!

School-age and adults bowlers enjoyed a day on the lanes Friday at the local bowling event in Union! A special thanks to the amazing volunteers from Union High School!
