Here’s a look back at all of the amazing Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) events that took place this week!

Beyond the Field An Evening with George Karlaftis: Thursday, May 8

Special Olympics Missouri teamed up with Rusty Drewing and Kansas City Chiefs Defensive End George Karlaftis for a powerful evening on May 8. This Major Gifts Event celebrated community impact, raised support for SOMO athletes, and highlighted the importance of inclusion. Guests enjoyed an inspiring night filled with generosity, connection, and shared commitment to SOMO’s mission.

Liberty School District “Sophie Fazel Track Invitational”: Saturday, May 10

SOMO athletes competed in the Sophie Fazel Track Invitational at Liberty North High School on May 10. The event brought together local athletes, coaches, and volunteers for a fun morning of track and field. Great job to all the athletes who gave it their all!

KC Local Track Meet: Saturday, May 10

The KC Local Track Meet took place on May 10 at Belton High School. Athletes from the Kansas City area came together for a day full of spirited competition. A huge congratulations to all who participated and supported the event!

Southwest Area Swim Meet: Saturday, May 10

The Southwest Area Swim Meet was held at the Lebanon Family YMCA on May 10. The day began with lunch and check-in, followed by warm-ups, an opening ceremony, and the main events. Athletes showed off their swimming skills and determination. Great job to everyone who made a splash at this meet!
