Here’s a look back at all of the amazing Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) events from May 2-8, 2023!

Sullivan Unified Local Track Meet- Tuesday, May 2

Sullivan High School kicked off the week by hosting a local track meet on Tuesday. Great job to all the track athletes who competed!

2023 Central Area Volleyball Tournament- Tuesday, May 2

The Training for Life Campus hosted the 2023 Central Area Volleyball Tournament this past Tuesday. We love hosting athletes at the Training for Life Campus!

Young Athlete Program- Wednesday, May 3

Special Olympics Young Athletes is an early childhood play program for children with and without intellectual disabilities, ages two to seven. Young Athletes introduces basic sport skills, like running, kicking and throwing. Young Athletes offers families, teachers, caregivers and community members the chance to share the joy of sports with all children.

Lunch & Learn (KC Metro)- Wednesday, May 3

Last Wednesday was the third Lunch & Learn of 2023! Whether you are a business, organization, or an individual who is interested in knowing more about SOMO, please join us for 30 minutes every first Wednesday of each month from 12-12:30 p.m.  You will get an opportunity to meet a KC Metro Athlete and hear their story and meet the KC Metro SOMO staff all while you enjoy your lunch!  You’ll even have an opportunity to ask questions. The 2023 Dates are March 1, April 5, May 3, June 7, July 5, August 2, September 6, October 4, November 1, and December 6.

These Lunch & Learns are quick and easy and will take place on Microsoft Teams.  To sign up for one of these events, please register at KC Metro Lunch & Learn.

Young Athlete Showcase- Thursday, May 4

Joe D. Esther Elementary School hosted this Young Athletes Showcase this past Thursday! Amazing job to all the athletes that participated!

Fulton Track Meet- Friday, May 5

Thank you to Fulton High School for hosting such a great day of track and field for our athletes on Friday. Fantastic job to all of these athletes!

Hermann Local Track Meet- Friday, May 5

This local track meet was hosted by Hermann High School. Great job to all the athletes that competed last Friday!

STL Metro SSD Track and Field Meet- Friday, May 5

Special School District at University City High School hosted a track and field meet this past Friday! Fantastic job to all the athletes that came out and competed!

McDonald County Track Meet- Friday, May 5

Opening Ceremonies started at 9:30 a.m. for this track meet hosted by McDonald County High School. Events started a 9:45 a.m. and ended at 11:45 a.m. with awards at 11:50 a.m. Incredible job to all the athletes that came out and competed!

STLM Area Soccer Tournament- Sunday, May 7

Chaminade College Prep School hosted this Area Soccer Tournament on Sunday. Great job to all the athletes that participated!
