Training for Life Campus Weekly Events and Classes: May 14-20

We always have exciting events going on at the Training for Life Campus (TLC)! Check out the schedule below for all the amazing May opportunities occurring through the end of the month, including our 8-week “Healthy Hustle” program  Don’t miss out on these recurring classes and activities!

Athlete Leader Lynna Hodgson and SOMO’s Christina Hunt Speak with KC Police: May 14

Shoutout to Athlete Leader Lynna Hodgson and SOMO’s Christina Hunt, who had the honor of speaking with 10 soon-to-be Kansas City police officers on May 14. Their inspiring conversation focused on the importance of inclusion, understanding, and community engagement. Great job stepping up Lynna and Christina!

Tip-A-Cop – Country Bob’s Cafe (St. James): Thursday, May 16

Thank you to MO State Highway Patrol – Troop I for making the Tip-A-Cop event at Country Bob’s Cafe in St. James a memorable occasion! These officers swapped in their handcuffs for aprons to help raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics MO athletes in the Central Area.  If you couldn’t make it but want to support these officers, please click here to donate.

Virtual Fit 5 Workout: Thursday, May 16

Health Messenger Allen Tobin led a successful Virtual Fit 5 workout this week. Great job to everyone who came out to get their sweat on!

Cornhole Tournament: Saturday, May 18

This fun cornhole tournament was hosted by the Northeast Correctional Center staff at the Pike County Fairgrounds. Participants enjoyed good food as well as a 50/50 raffle and silent auction. Thank you to everyone who came out and played!

Dance Clinic – SW Area: Sunday, May 19

The Kickapoo Golden Girls hosted an incredible Dance Clinic on Sunday, May 19 at Kickapoo High School! This free clinic provided a wonderful opportunity for athletes to learn new routines and experience the joy of dance in a supportive and energetic environment. Thank you to the Kickapoo Golden Girls for hosting this clinic!

KC Metro Pickleball Clinic: Sunday, May 19

The KC Metro Area is wrapping up the last few sessions of a two-part pickleball clinic series. Sunday was the second to last clinic for the May session and it was a blast! Next Sunday is the final session on May 26th.

Kansas City Enshrinement Ceremony Missouri Sports Hall of Fame: Sunday, May 19

Several athletes attended the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Kansas City Enshrinement Ceremony this past weekend. What an exciting event!
