SOMO Sum Ups May 13-19

Here’s a look back at all of the amazing Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) events that took place this week!

Southwest Area Pickleball Clinic: Wednesday, May 14

The Southwest Area Pickleball Clinic served up fun and friendly competition at The Fieldhouse Sportscenter. Athletes participated in three divisions, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced, allowing everyone to play at their skill level while learning more about the game. Great job to all the athletes who participated and brought their energy to the courts!

Dunkin’ Cop on a Rooftop: Friday, May 16

Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) officers took to the rooftops of local Dunkin’ locations across the state to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Missouri athletes. Officers waved signs from early morning through noon, cheered with the community, and collected donations from generous customers. Thank you to everyone who stopped by or donated online to support our athletes; you helped make this event a sweet success!

1st Annual Knights of Columbus Celebrity Pro-Am: Friday, May 16

The 1st Annual Knights of Columbus Celebrity Pro-Am was a huge success! Golfers enjoyed an 18-hole four-person scramble with the added fun of a celebrity guest joining each team as their fifth player. The day kicked off with a celebrity auction, followed by a shotgun start, lunch, and awards ceremony. Thank you to all the players, sponsors, and supporters who made this memorable event a strong showing of support for Special Olympics Missouri.

St. Louis Metro Area Powerlifting Meet: Saturday, May 17

The St. Louis Metro Area Powerlifting Meet was held at Freedom Fitness in Cottleville and showcased some incredible strength and determination. Athletes gave it their all across multiple lifts, cheered on by fans, coaches, and volunteers. Congratulations to all the lifters for an outstanding day of competition!
