SOMO Sum Ups: March 21-27
Here’s a look back at all of the amazing Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) events from March 21-27, 2023!
Laquey Local Basketball Tournament- Tuesday, March 21
This basketball tournament took place last Tuesday! Fantastic job to all the athletes that competed!
Unified Intramural Basketball- Tuesday, March 21
A night of Unified Intramural Basketball took place at Missouri State University last Tuesday. Nice job to all the athletes that competed!
Young Athlete Program- Tuesday, March 21
Special Olympics Young Athletes is an early childhood play program for children with and without intellectual disabilities, ages two to seven. Young Athletes introduces basic sport skills, like running, kicking and throwing. Young Athletes offers families, teachers, caregivers and community members the chance to share the joy of sports with all children.

KC Metro Pickleball Clinic- Wednesday, March 22
SOMO is hosting a FREE 6-Week Pickleball Clinic in collaboration with KC Parks & Rec! The clinic emphasizes foundational skills and takes place Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 p.m., March 22 to April 26.
SW SOMO Basketball Game at Rotary Tournament- Thursday, March 23
Great job to all the athletes that participated in this annual basketball tournament in Springfield!
State Indoor Games- Friday, March 24- Saturday, March 25
The 2023 SOMO State Indoor Games brought more than 1,500 athletes, coaches, volunteers and Unified partners from across the state to St. Charles, March 24-25. The theme this year was disco! This year’s State Indoor Games featured two sports: Basketball and Bowling. The bowling competition was on Friday, and our basketball competition took place on Saturday.

North Area Young Athletes Program (Maryville)- Monday, March 27
This is a FREE 4-week Program for children with and without intellectual disabilities between the ages of 2-7. Young Athletes introduces basic sport skills like running, kicking, and throwing. The Young Athletes Program offers families, teachers, caregivers, and people from the community the chance to share the joy of sports with all children.
