Southwest Area – The Mindful Midweek Crew has started a new project! They are creating Rocks for Inclusion – QR Codes will be added to the back of these and placed around Springfield for community members to find and learn more about SOMO. The athletes are excited to spread some cheer for inclusion. We can’t wait to see who finds our rocks first. 

North Area – North Area proudly hosted its 13th Annual Shamrock Fun Run on Saturday, March 14th, bringing together 178 enthusiastic runners and walkers for a day of community fun and fitness. Participants of all ages came out to enjoy the event, which was made even better by the wonderful weather and a beautiful day outdoors. The event ran smoothly thanks to the dedication and support of many amazing volunteers who helped make the day a success. Overall, it was a great turnout and a fantastic celebration of community spirit.

Central Area – On Thursday, March 12^th, the Central Area was at Laquay High School for their basketball tournament! We competed in both Team Skills and 3 on 3 basketball. The competition was tough, but we had a great time! It was the perfect way to end our local basketball season. Now, onto State!

Kansas City Metro Area – March 10 — UMKC Unified Basketball Season Wraps!

We officially wrapped up another fantastic season of UMKC Unified Basketball! Huge thanks to all athletes, partners, volunteers, and supporters who made this season so special. Now we’re rolling straight into Bocce and Soccer season! 🔥

We also have a few openings left for UMKC Unified Soccer, so if you know someone who wants to join the fun, now’s the time!

March 13 — March Movie + Game Night

Our athletes gathered for another awesome Movie + Game Night, enjoying an evening filled with fun, friends, and lots of laughs. These community nights continue to bring people together and build friendships across our KC Metro family!

March 14 — Soccer Clinic with the Kansas City Comets

What an unforgettable day for our SOMO KC Metro athletes! ⚽💙

Our athletes had the incredible opportunity to step onto the turf at Cable Dahmer Arena for a one-of-a-kind soccer clinic hosted by the Kansas City Comets. The arena was packed with energy, excitement, and big smiles from start to finish!

Athletes had the chance to:
✔ Work on soccer skills
✔ Learn from the pros
✔ Meet and connect with Comets players
✔ Experience a supportive, high‑energy environment

Opportunities like this help build confidence, foster friendships, and deepen our athletes’ love for the game.
