Training for Life Campus Events: All Week!

Young Athletes at Training for Life Campus: Jan. 31, 2024

At the Training for Life Campus, our young athletes were in full swing, honing their skills, building friendships, and embracing the joy of sport!

Lexington Local Basketball Tournament: Jan. 31, 2024

Our athletes brought their A-game to the Lexington Basketball Tournament, showcasing teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship on the court. A big shoutout to all the players, coaches, and supporters who made this event a slam dunk success!

“Lexington High School hosted our Lexington Local Basketball Tournament yesterday,” Program Director, Alex Jones, said. ”Students and Athletes came together for a great day of basketball and fun!” 

Lake Saint Louis Polar Plunge: Feb. 3, 2024

The Lake Saint Louis Polar Plunge made waves of impact, raising over $106,000 for SOMO!  Huge shoutout to everyone who plunged, donated, and supported this chilly adventure for a cause!

West Regional Basketball Tournament: Feb. 3, 2024

At West Regionals, we didn’t just compete; we also cared for our athletes’ well-being! Special Smiles, part of our Healthy Athletes program, provided free health screenings at the St. Joseph Rec Center. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., volunteer clinicians offered one-on-one instruction on teeth-brushing techniques, oral health screenings, and valuable nutrition tips. Athletes even received a free t-shirt after their Special Smiles session! 🦷✨

Cape Girardeau Polar Plunge: Feb. 3, 2024

The Cape Girardeau Polar Plunge made a splash, raising nearly $40,000 for SOMO!  A huge round of applause to everyone who took the plunge and contributed to this incredible cause!

Zach Paul Trivia Night at the Training for Life Campus: Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024

KRCG’s Zach Paul hosted a trivia night at the Training for Life Campus to raise money for his Super Plunge Polar Plunge campaign. All the money will go to SOMO! This year’s winner was the Braniacs, led by SOMO employee Grace Davis!

Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Enshrinement: Feb. 4, 2024

The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame invited our Special Olympics Missouri Hall of Fame Class of 2023 to its Hall of Fame Enshrinement on Sunday, Feb. 4 at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield. Genice Fisher, Daniel Fultz, Stan Smith and Chris Ringot were all recognized on stage at the banquet. SOMO’s Southwest Area Development Director Haley Blevins also had the opportunity to speak about our amazing organization. It was a great day!

Mizzou Wrestling invites SOMO to senior day dual: Feb. 4, 2024

The Mizzou wrestling team invited our Special Olympics Missouri athletes, coaches, volunteers and staff to its senior day wrestling dual against Oklahoma State on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024. SOMO was thrilled to be a part of such an exciting atmosphere! SOMO has a statewide partnership with the University of Missouri, the University of Missouri System and MU Health Care.
