Training for Life Campus Events: All Week!

TLC events are back for the new year! Check out the schedule below for all the amazing January opportunities coming up, including our 8-week “Healthy Hustle” program. Don’t miss out on these recurring classes and activities!

On Friday, Jan. 26, three SOMO athletes earned a Healthy Hustle t-shirt for coming to 15 Healthy Hustle Classes during our latest 8-week session! Shoutout to these athletes!

Southwest Area Basketball Tournament: Wednesday, Jan. 24.

The Southwest Area Basketball Tournament took place on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Webb City High School. The event featured a range of competitions including Team Skills, Individual Skills, and 3-on-3 Unified Basketball. Participants showcased their talents and sportsmanship throughout the day, with teams giving their all in each category. It was a spirited gathering that brought athletes, coaches, and supporters together in a celebration of basketball and community.

Ice Bears Hockey Games and Silent Raffle: Friday, Jan. 26 and Saturday, Jan. 27

Missouri State University’s hockey team welcomed SOMO for a night of hockey fun and fundraising! Development Director, Haley Blevins, had nothing but good things to say about the event,

“Some awesome hockey to watch and amazing support for our athletes from the team and the crowd. The hockey team has asked that we come back for other events in the future, and we look forward to making that happen. Thank you to our athletes and volunteers who came out and helped us out this weekend! We have a great SOMO community here in SW!”

Central Area Basketball Tournament: Saturday, Jan. 27

The Central Area Basketball Tournament took place at Blair Oaks High School and our Training For Life Campus this weekend. Athletes had an amazing time! Development Director, Alex Jones, praised the athletes who competed,

“We had the BEST time at the 2024 Central Area Basketball Tournament this past Saturday! Congrats to all the athletes who participated.”

Polar Plunge Kansas City 2024: Saturday, Jan. 27

Kansas City plungers gathered at Longview Lake on Saturday to take the plunge into 20°F water. KC raised more than $150,000, and we’re still counting! Great job plungers! We’ll have a full recap of the Plunge coming up soon!

Fit 5 Workout: Saturday, Jan. 27

Brent Kampert brought his energetic Fit 5 workout to St. Louis once again this past Saturday, inspiring participants to push their limits and achieve their fitness goals. The event was filled with high-intensity exercises, motivational coaching, and a supportive community atmosphere. Participants left feeling energized, accomplished, and ready to tackle their fitness journey with renewed determination. I’ll make sure to archive the photos from the event for you!

Sunday Fun Day: Sunday, Jan. 28

SOMO Director of Training, Susan Shaffer, hosted a Sunday Fun Day at the Training for Life Campus on Jan. 28 for families with children with intellectual disabilities. Everyone had a great time!
