Here’s a look back at all of the amazing Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) events that took place this week!

KC Unified Basketball Intramural with UMKC: Tuesday, February 4
The 5-week Unified Basketball Intramural League with UMKC tipped off at Swinney Recreation Center, bringing together athletes and partners for a fun and competitive evening of basketball. With games scheduled every Tuesday through March 4, this program will continues to foster inclusion and teamwork on the court.

Southwest Local Basketball – Nixa: Wednesday, February 5
Nixa High School hosted an exciting day of Unified Basketball as teams from across the Southwest Area came together to compete in the local basketball tournament. Great job to all those who participated!

2025 Polar Plunge Cape Girardeau: Saturday, February 8
What an incredible day! Over 165 brave plungers took the icy plunge in Cape Girardeau, raising more than $64,000 to support Special Olympics Missouri athletes. A huge thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and supported this event—your contributions make a real difference! Stay tuned for a recap video and article coming soon!

2025 Capitol Hill Day Recap:
Six delegates from Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet with members of Congress and advocate for continued support of SOMO’s vital programs. Their efforts helped raise awareness for inclusion and the impact of Special Olympics across Missouri. Click here to read the recap article!
