SOMO Sum Ups: February 18-24
Here’s a look back at all of the amazing Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) events that took place this week!
Virtual Fit5: Tuesday, February 18
On February 18, participants joined the second session of the Virtual Fit5 series, led by Charlie Phillips. As part of Heart Healthy Month, the session focused on a cardio-based exercise to help athletes improve their fitness. The four-week program continues every Tuesday evening on Zoom. 2025 Polar Plunge and Strut Lake of the Ozarks: Saturday, February 22
Plunge season is in full swing! Brave participants took the plunge at Lake of the Ozarks on February 22 to support SOMO! The annual Polar Plunge and Strut brought together individuals and teams for a day of freezing fun, all while raising funds and awareness for SOMO athletes. Stay tuned for a recap article!

2025 Polar Plunge Kirksville: Saturday, February 22
Last weekend, the Kirksville community made a splash at the 2025 Polar Plunge! A total of 89 brave participants took the icy dive, raising an impressive $17,000 to support SOMO athletes.

KC Pickleball Series: Sunday, February 23
Athletes gathered at Char Bar Parkville on February 23 for another session of the KC Pickleball Series. This free skill development event provided a great opportunity for participants to refine their pickleball techniques while enjoying a fun and active evening. Athletes with active physicals through SOMO took part in the ongoing series, which will continue through early March. Click here for information on our next session.
