Here’s a look back at all of the amazing Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) events that took place this week!

KC Unified Basketball Intramural with UMKC: Tuesday, February 11
The Unified Basketball Intramural League with UMKC kept the energy high at Swinney Recreation Center, uniting athletes and partners for another exciting night of competition. Running every Tuesday through March 4, this five-week program continues to promote inclusion, teamwork and a love for the game. Click here for more details on the next session!

Virtual Fit5: Tuesday, February 11

Our Heart Healthy Month Virtual Fit5 session kicked off with an energizing cardio workout led by Charlie Phillips! Athletes joined in from home to stay active and healthy. We can’t wait for next week’s session! Here is the link for information on the next session!

Cops on Top – Osage Beach: Friday, February 15

The Osage Beach Police Department and Benne Media took to the rooftop to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Missouri and the Polar Plunge! Thank you to everyone who donated and showed their support!

2025 Polar Plunge and Strut Maryland Heights: Saturday, February 15

Polar Plunge season is in full swing! The 2025 Maryland Heights Polar Plunge was an unforgettable event, filled with excitement and determination despite the misty and drizzly weather. A total of 389 brave plungers and 23 dedicated strutters came together to support Special Olympics Missouri athletes, raising nearly $100,000 for the cause. The event would not have been possible without the incredible generosity of participants, donors, and supporters, whose contributions are making a real impact. NCC X SOMO Unified Cornhole Tournament: Saturday, February 15

Our first Unified Cornhole Tournament at Special Olympics Missouri was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who played, volunteered, and helped make the event so special. A big shoutout to the News Tribune for the great coverage!

SOMO East Regional Basketball Tournament: Sunday, February 15

The SOMO East Regional Basketball Tournament brought the competition to Cape Girardeau! Athletes gave it their all across various venues, showcasing their teamwork and skills. Thank you to all the volunteers, coaches and supporters who made it a fantastic event!
