Here’s a look back at all of the amazing Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) events from December 10-16, 2024!

Southwest Area Bowling: Thursday, December 12

The Southwest Area Bowling event took place on Thursday, December 12 from 9:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at G3 Entertainment in Carthage. Schools that participated included Columbian Elementary School, Steadley Elementary School, Carthage High School, Carthage Junior High School, Carthage Intermediate School, Lamar Schools, and Avilla Schools. Great job to all the athletes who participated!

Southwest Area Bowling: Friday, December 13

The Southwest Area Bowling event continued on Friday, December 13 from 9:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at G3 Entertainment in Carthage. Schools that participated included Nevada Schools, Osceola Schools, Miller Schools, Southwest R5 Schools, Stockton Schools, Purdy Schools, and Golden City Schools. Thank you to everyone who helped out with these bowling events.

The School Series: Friday, December 13

Students from Tipton and California visited our campus for an action-packed day focused on health and wellness. Activities included fitness challenges, step counting, and exploring mindful snack options to promote healthy habits. Students also learned mindfulness techniques to manage stress and stay centered, along with the importance of hydration for success in the classroom and beyond.

Thank you to the athletes, unified partners, and staff from Tipton and California for bringing such great energy and enthusiasm to a day dedicated to keeping both bodies and minds healthy!

Francis Howell Local Basketball Tournament: Saturday, December 14

The Francis Howell Local Basketball Tournament was held on Saturday, December 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Francis Howell North High School. St. Louis Metro Area basketball teams were invited to a local competition, hosted by the Francis Howell School District, in their new gym space at Francis Howell North High School. Team Skills, 3on3, and 5on5 competitions ran all day, and we had fantastic volunteers from the Francis Howell North women’s basketball team and the Francis Howell Central men’s basketball team.
