SOMO hosts Franklin County Local Bowling Tournament
UNION – Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) hosted its Franklin County Local Bowling Tournament on Thursday at Oasis Lanes.
Union High School brought 33 volunteers to help make the bowling tournament a success.
Union High School student council advisor Taylor Tholen said she had a blast at the event.
“This event is great for athletes and volunteers alike because it’s important to be around all different types of people,” Tholen said. “It’s great for students to get to learn by doing. This is a valuable experience that you can’t really get any other way.”
Union High School is a Missouri Association of Student Councils (MASC) member. MASC is one of SOMO’s statewide sponsors.
Sophomore Lilly Koss has now volunteered at this event for the past two years.
“I love learning and helping SOMO athletes, and it’s something I don’t get to do often,” Koss said. “I always look forward to doing this.”
