SOMO Advocates for Unity at Disability Rights Day at the Missouri State Capitol

Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) proudly participated in Disability Rights Day at the Missouri State Capitol! This annual event brings together advocates, organizations, and individuals from across the state to champion the rights of people with disabilities.
SOMO had the opportunity to set up a booth in the Capitol Rotunda, where we connected with attendees and shared the impact of our programs. We also had the privilege of meeting with numerous Missouri State Representatives and Senators to discuss the importance of unity, accessibility, and opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Our conversations with lawmakers emphasized the life-changing benefits of Special Olympics Missouri—from sports and health programs to leadership opportunities that empower our athletes both on and off the field. We were inspired by the support and enthusiasm we received from our elected officials, who recognize the value of our mission.
Advocacy is a crucial part of what we do and today was a great reminder that when we raise our voices together, we can make a difference! Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, engaged in meaningful discussions, and supported our athletes.
Let’s continue working toward a more inclusive Missouri! 💙 #DisabilityRightsDay #SOMO
