SOMO athletes had a wonderful Saturday filled with kicks, laughs, and some serious bonding at the University of Missouri! This past weekend, athletes from all corners of the state came to Columbia for an epic showdown in Unified Kickball, teaming up with student athletes from Mizzou. Afterwards, they cheered on Mizzou baseball in a thrilling comeback victory against Florida.

Cody Hendrickson, the Assistant Athletic Director at Mizzou, was the mastermind behind this fantastic event yet again. Last year, he witnessed the magic of bringing together athletes from diverse backgrounds and seeing the bonds that formed, making it his favorite event of the year.

Emma Thomas, the Unified Champion Schools Senior Manager, couldn’t agree more. “SOMO is all about breaking down barriers and fostering inclusion through sports. More schools should hop on board and replicate events like this. Sports have the incredible power to unite students and community members, regardless of any differences.”
