Kansas City Chiefs’ George Karlaftis Chooses Special Olympics Missouri for NFL’s “My Cause My Cleats” Campaign
KANSAS CITY – Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) is thrilled to announce that Kansas City Chiefs defensive end George Karlaftis has chosen SOMO as his cause for the NFL’s annual My Cause My Cleats campaign. This initiative gives NFL players the opportunity to spotlight causes close to their hearts by wearing custom-designed cleats during Week 13 of the season.
Karlaftis, in partnership with SOMO, will showcase cleats that reflect his commitment to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities. The custom design highlights the organization’s mission of inclusion, healthy living, and opportunities for SOMO athletes to shine on and off the field.
“It’s a cause near and dear to my heart,” said George Karlaftis. “The athletes serve as an inspiration to me. I’m proud to use my platform to bring attention to the incredible work they do and the impact SOMO has on so many lives.”
As part of this collaboration, Karlaftis teamed up with SOMO athletes to create a video that captures the spirit of the organization and the powerful message of inclusion. The cleats will make their debut during the Chiefs game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on November 29, where fans can celebrate Karlaftis’ support for SOMO and the athletes who inspire him.
“We are deeply honored to be part of this campaign,” said Brian Neuner, Chief Development Officer. “George’s support not only raises awareness for our mission but also highlights the incredible abilities of our athletes. We’re grateful to have him as a champion for inclusion.”
Following the game, Karlaftis’ cleats will be auctioned off, with proceeds directly benefiting Special Olympics Missouri to further their programs and initiatives across the state.
