Other Ways to Help

Whether you want to donate your time, talent, or treasures, Special Olympics Missouri athletes, coaches, and families are grateful for your contribution to the cause. We have plenty of ways that you can give back and help us deliver programming to athletes with intellectual disabilities across the great state of Missouri.

I have talent to give

Volunteer with a whistle in their mouth looks to the side as smiling athlete holds a basketball

Volunteer

We host more than 300 trainings and competitions each year and need thousands of volunteers to make sure our events are run properly and safely. There are always events (trainings, competitions, and even fundraisers) near you that need help.

Mentor

Athlete Leadership program trains SOMO athletes on how to acquire skills and eventually become meaningful leaders on their teams and in their communities. Many athletes need mentors to help them achieve their goals.

Coach

Coaches are dedicated volunteers who make sure our athletes are ready for competition. With a wide range of coaching levels, you don't need to be an expert in a sport; all you need is the passion and drive to help our athletes succeed.

Monetary donations

You can donate once or on a monthly basis. You can even donate stock or set up a memorial for a loved one who has passed. No matter how you donate, you'll sleep well knowing that 85% goes directly to program services.

Fundraise

If you are interested in raising funds for SOMO, we have plenty of ways for you to do that as well. From jumping into ice cold water, to selling raffle tickets, to eating out at restaurants, there are so many ways to fundraise for your favorite charity.

Sports gear

Do you have gently-used sports equipment lying around the house? Are you a school team looking to get rid of your old gear? Special Olympics Missouri athletes could put those things to good use! We don't take old trophies or other awards.
