Fourth Annual Evening with Andy Reid: A Winning Night!
The Fourth Annual Evening with Andy Reid, held on Wednesday, June 5, was a huge success! The event celebrated the Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) athletes and was an unforgettable experience for all in attendance. This year, more than 370 individuals attended the festivities held at Arrowhead Stadium, making for an electric crowd and a strong representation of SOMO athletes from the Kansas City Metro area.
Before the program began, Coach Reid took the time to meet personally with the SOMO athletes in attendance and take memorable photos. The athletes loved getting this time to meet with him!
Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame announcer Mitch Holthus was the emcee for the evening, energizing the crowd and leading us through a night of fun and fundraising. Guests were treated to a personal message from Chiefs Defensive End George Karlaftis, SOMO CEO Larry Linthacum, the SOMO KC Metro team, and Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid.
The evening’s excitement didn’t end there; Chiefs players George Karlaftis and Justin Reid also joined the festivities. One of the highlights was the chance for attendees to bid on a lunch with George Karlaftis, making for an enticing auction item.
The evening was filled with inspiring moments. One particularly heartwarming segment featured the Kansas City Metro Area 2023 Family of the Year, who took the stage to share their moving story, highlighting the profound impact of SOMO on their lives.
The highlight of the evening took place when SOMO athletes joined Coach Reid and Mitch Holthus on stage. The athletes had a unique opportunity to ask the three-time Super Bowl-winning Coach a variety of questions. Everyone, including Coach Reid, enjoyed the interaction, which was both enjoyable and deeply meaningful, showcasing the strong bond between the athletes and their admired role models.
The night was filled with celebration and community spirit. A big thank you goes out to everyone who donated, participated in the auction and supported our SOMO athletes, as well as to our event sponsors, whose generosity made this incredible evening possible.
More than $385,000 was raised to benefit the athletes of Special Olympics Missouri. Overall, the Fourth Annual Evening with Andy Reid was a huge success, and we thank Coach Reid for another great year of supporting our athletes.
