Community Cares Celebration
What an incredible day at the Community Care Celebration! We were thrilled to welcome over 100 visitors to our campus to experience the joy of our Special Olympics community. It was a day filled with energy, learning, and sportsmanship.
A highlight of the event was the launch of our new Healthy Young Athletes health screening, designed specifically for our younger athletes. This new initiative was overseen by Special Olympics Missouri Clinical Director, Dr. Cook with JCMG. It was a massive success, providing essential health assessments and early detection of potential concerns. These screenings not only promote long-term health and well-being but also educate athletes and their families about the importance of preventative care.
Meanwhile, our older athletes showcased their talents in a thrilling volleyball tournament, closing out their season in style before heading to state. The competition was fierce, but the camaraderie was even stronger.
We were also fortunate to have 25 local businesses/organizations join us, offering health education and resources to our community. Their presence allowed athletes, families, and caretakers to connect with valuable services, ensuring everyone has access to the tools they need to stay healthy and active.
The best part? This is just the beginning! We’re excited to welcome more organizations, family members, caretakers, and athletes to future events as we continue to celebrate our amazing Special Olympics community
