2026 Polar Plunge Joplin
Join us for the COOLEST event of the year! People all across Missouri are participating in our 2026 Polar Plunge and so can you! Organize a team of your friends, co-workers, families, or choose to go solo. Then get creative by putting together costumes for this year’s theme & take the plunge into some icy cold water! Every dollar raised in the 2026 Polar Plunge will go towards Special Olympics programming to support over 12,000 Special Olympics athletes in the state of Missouri. Your contribution and involvement helps athletes achieve their goals on & off the field, have a healthier lifestyle, and a sense of inclusion in the community. If you cannot take the Plunge, you can still come out, make a donation, volunteer your time, and show your support!
This “unbearable” event is a unique opportunity to show your bravery as you support local Special Olympics Missouri athletes by walking, running or crawling into the frigid winter waters. This one-of-a-kind event promises a fun atmosphere complete with music, funny costumes and lasting memories for everyone!
Incentives
All Polar Bear and Student plungers must raise a minimum of $75 in order to participate. Incentives are in place for those who raise above and beyond the minimum.
We are thrilled to highlight SOMO athlete, Jared Niemeyer of Jared’s Jams, in our incentives this year!
