Shamrock 5K Fun Run

Hello Shamrock Run participants,

The Shamrock Run scheduled for March 14 is officially cancelled. Due to the concern over Coronavirus, and following on the heels of the City of St. Joseph cancelling the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, we feel it's in the best interest of all of our constituents involved if we do the same for this event as well.

It will require all of us taking every precautionary measure to ensure that this virus doesn't spread any more than it already has. Please join us in taking this seriously for the safety of everyone in our communities.

Seeing as the event is two days away, we already have the event shirts. At this time, since the situation is changing by the hour, we ask that you are patient with us as we figure out how to handle disbursement. Please do NOT come by the office to pick up your shirts.

We appreciate you signing up to participate in our Shamrock Run. Because of you, our athletes have the opportunity to train and compete in 16 different sports year-round and take part in more than 300 trainings and competitions each year. Your participation also helps our athletes receive free health screenings and learn new leadership and life skills.

Even though we aren’t having the event, we’d appreciate you treating your race fee as a donation. If you’d like, we are happy to give you a discounted entry (50 percent off) into next year’s race instead.

We are looking at ways to still have some kind of “fun run” later this year. We will be in contact in the next couple of months. Feel free to reach out to us if you haven’t heard anything by June 1.

The Shamrock 5K is a Fun Run/Walk benefiting Special Olympics Missouri North Area. It is a joint event between local law enforcement and Special Olympics through the Law Enforcement Torch Run® program that raises awareness and funds for local athletes with intellectual disabilities.
The Run begins at Grand Ave & 11th Street in St. Joseph at 11:15 a.m. It will finish at Norty's Bar & Grill on Frederick. Register by March 6 to guarantee to receive a T-shirt. Awards will be handed out immediately following the run.

Prizes will be awarded for top overall male runner, top overall female runner, top male youth and top female youth. The best costumes and funniest team names will also be recognized.

Each runner registered by March 6th will receive a T-shirt. A limited number of T-shirts will be available at packet pick up. No shirts will be ordered after the run. Awards will be handed out immediately following the last runner finishing at Norty's.
