ALPs Introduction Class at the area level

Looking to register for the Dec. 15, 2018, Introduction to ALPs Course offered in Warrenton? Click here!

Because we understand that signing up to attend an Athlete Leadership Programs University may be a little intimidating before you know if this thing is really right for you as an athlete or as a mentor, we're offering just the eight-hour Introduction to ALPs course at the area level as a way for you to "test the waters."

We're trying to be flexible with the way we offer ALPs courses and hope that this adjustment will make it easier for athletes and mentors to see just how much fun ALPs can be without needing to commit to a full weekend session out of the gate.

Schedule is set for the class to begin at 9 a.m. and be over before 5 p.m. We will break for an hour for lunch.

Cost to attend for athlete-leaders is $10. This pays for copies of the curriculum, pens/pencils and lunch on Saturday. Mentors are not charged. If you cancel less than a week before the University, there is no refund.

We want to make sure every athlete-leader has the individualized attention they deserve, so we are capping the participants at 10 athlete-leaders and 10 mentors. If we reach that limit, registration will close. If you go to sign up and we've already reached that limit, please email Schatsiek@somo.org and he will put you on a waiting list in case someone drops out.

The same rules for attending an ALPs University apply for those wanting to attend this one-off Introduction course:
- We highly suggest athlete-leaders have mentors, but it's not a requirement.
- You do NOT need to be a current SOMO athlete to participate in this program (we'll still require a physical for insurance purposes)
- Mentors can be parents of the athlete-leaders.
- Mentors do not have to pay to attend.
- Athlete-leaders and mentors must both be at least 16 years old (we'll consider younger participants)
