2023 Truck Convoy raises more than $115,000 for SOMO
JOPLIN – This year’s World’s Largest Truck Convoy dealt with some adversity, but in the end – it raised more than $115,000 for Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO). This money will directly impact the SOMO athletes in the Southwest Area.
The initial convoy scheduled for Saturday night was unfortunately canceled due to bad weather. However, the truckers came together to organize an alternate route for Sunday. In total, more than 150 trucks signed up for the Truck Convoy.
“Everyone really rallied together this weekend, and we are so grateful,” said SOMO’s Southwest Area Development Director Haley Blevins. “4 State Trucks bent over backwards to raise money for us this weekend, and we cannot thank them enough!”
The Truck Convoy is a bi-annual fundraiser in Joplin, Mo., for SOMO. This event is a national one-day celebration of the trucking industry, its allied partners and law enforcement all working together to raise funds for Special Olympics athletes.
The Truck Convoy is held in conjunction with the Guilty by Association Truck Show, which features demolition derby, truck and tractor pulls, monster truck jams and multiple concerts.
