Team MO Magic Newsletter

*The information in these newsletters can also be found on our website at, and the USA Games Facebook group. Please take the time to check these resources regularly to make sure that you are getting all of the information released by Special Olympics Missouri.*
Hello Team Missouri family and friends,

After more than a year of training, the time has finally come for everyone to show the rest of the country what MO Magic is all about! It’s obvious how ready our athletes are to get out there and compete to the best of their ability.

Both sets of our team arrived in Seattle on Friday evening and spent Saturday touring campus and checking out what downtown has to offer. We walked A LOT today with many of us getting in more than 20,000 steps. We finished the day with a cruise around the harbor. To see everything we did on Saturday, check out our Facebook page.

Opening Ceremony is Sunday at 2:30 CST. It will be broadcasted LIVE on ABC (and on the Watch ESPN app if you’re watching on-the-go), so make sure to tune in and cheer us on. We have a coach participating in the Opening Ceremony and we might have a couple of other surprises up our sleeves showing how awesome our delegates are.

We promise that as the week goes on, we’ll have an update on all of the individual teams (with photos, videos and blogs), but with little happening so far, there’s not much to say at the moment. However, we still wanted to make sure to send out a little something tonight.

If you haven’t done so yet, be sure to download the mobile app to receive updates throughout the week. For more details on the app, see below.

Photos from Saturday’s campus tour and downtown hijinks (including a 360-degree video of our cruise) are on our Facebook page. Be sure to “Like” the page to see all posts this week.

Whether you will watch Team Missouri athletes compete in Seattle or you just want to follow their progress from afar, the Team Missouri mobile app has features to enhance your experience cheering them on:

  • Schedules
  • Newsletters/updates on daily competitions
  • Maps/directions
  • Communicate with other parents/coaches
  • Photo gallery
  • Alerts from SOMO

Check out this video tutorial on downloading and using the app.

There are two ways to download our app:

  1. Open the app store on your mobile device and search ‘Whova.’ Once Whova is downloaded, open that app and search ‘Team Missouri’ or ‘USA Games’ and select ‘2018 USA Games: Team Missouri’ and you’re good to go.
  2. Scan the QR code in the poster below to take you directly there

We will also be sending out nightly newsletters updating you on the progress of Team Missouri. Those newsletters will be emailed AND posted to the mobile app. If you want to receive the newsletters, but don’t want to sign up for the mobile app, please click here (if you received this email, you’re already signed up). The best way to stay up-to-date as competitions are going on, however, is to download the app and receive real-time alerts from Seattle!

We are still working on adding a few things here and there, so make sure you check back in near the end of June to get the full experience.
